Reporter: You stressed that an exhibition must have vitality before it can better publicize the city where the exhibition is held. What measures will the Qingdao municipal government take in the future to promote the development of the Qingdao convention and exhibition industry?
Wu Tiejun: The Qingdao municipal government sets a goal in the development of the convention and exhibition industry. Whether it is quantitatively or qualitatively, Qingdao strives to achieve a better improvement within 10 years. We hope to make breakthroughs in cooperation with major international companies. By participating in the CEFCO Forum, it has initially reached an agreement with Reed Exhibitions, the world's largest exhibition company. Qingdao has become a strategic partner of Reed Exhibitions and there may be three or four cooperation projects in the future. With the participation of Reed Exhibitions, the brand and quality of Qingdao Exhibition will be improved. In the future, Qingdao will convene a citywide convention and exhibition industry conference once a year. It will recruit well-known exhibition companies and international organizations at home and abroad to take the pulse for the Qingdao convention and exhibition industry. At the same time, it will introduce policies to encourage the development of convention and exhibition enterprises and set up special funds for convention and exhibition development.
The development of the convention and exhibition industry in various parts of the country is fierce. The development of the convention and exhibition industry in Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Dalian and other cities is at the forefront of the country. Wu Tiejun: In 2010, Qingdao will host 192 events, including 138 exhibitions, 15 conferences, 33 festivals, and 6 art and sports shows. The development strategy of the Qingdao convention and exhibition industry in 2010 was to enhance the overall quality and quality of the exhibition and to build Qingdao's own brand. Qingdao Brand Exhibition will meet the following four criteria: First, it is in line with Qingdao's economic development strategy. Second, it is adapted to the adjustment of Qingdao's industrial structure. Third, it has authority, influence and popularity in the country. Fourth, it has a greater role in pulling the entire society and economy. Of course, the number of brand exhibitions can not be too much. Our goal is to strive for 12 brand exhibitions throughout the year. In addition, each year Qingdao participates in more than 40 exhibitions in other countries and regions under the name of the municipal government. This also serves as a part of the Qingdao Convention and Exhibition Economy.
Reporter: What are the major brand exhibitions in Qingdao now?
Wu Tiejun: The Expo, the Sino-German Corporate Summit, the Marine Festival, the Beer Festival, the Circular Economy Expo, and the Ocean Science and Technology Forum are brand exhibitions that the municipal government should focus on fostering and building. In addition, there are stone exhibition and rubber exhibition. The two exhibitions are operated by a private enterprise in Qingdao and have been held four times. Why cultivate these two exhibitions? China's stone fairs and trade patterns are imbalanced from north to south. China's two largest stone fairs are all in the south. In the north of the Yangtze River, a stone trading center is also needed, and Qingdao is on the other side of the border. Japan and South Korea have a clear market demand. The Qingdao Stone Fair is a combination of exhibition and trading center. The rubber exhibition is also the flagship exhibition brand of Qingdao. The rubber trading volume in Qingdao is the first in the country and the industrial output value is the second in the country. Qingdao has very good port conditions. Therefore, Qingdao focuses on cultivating these two exhibitions. Our principle is: No matter whether it is an international company or a local company, and whether it is a state-owned enterprise or a private enterprise, the Qingdao municipal government will support it. In the future, Qingdao City will actively promote the professionalization of the exhibition and strive to realize the marketization, branding, and internationalization of the exhibition. Reporter: In 2011, the CEFCO Forum was decided to be held in Hangzhou. Does Qingdao intend to undertake the CEFCO Forum after 2011?
Wu Tiejun: Qingdao City strives to invite CEFCO to Qingdao. At present, both the hardware and the software in the Qingdao exhibition industry need improvement. Especially in terms of software, we will devote more efforts to the rationalization of personnel training mechanisms and management processes and other comprehensive services.
